About GITIW

Inorder to produce skilled women technicians, in Salem town, Govt. of Tamilnadu established this ITI exclusively for Women in 1990 under World Bank scheme. As per the demand and employability, four trades namely COPA, Instrument Mechanic, Stenography, ICTSM were started.

After IMC took over the ITI, four new trades were introduced viz. Draughtsman Civil, Electronic Mechanic, Front Office Assistant & Hospital Housekeeping. A new three storied building was constructed at the cost of Rs. 62.50 lakhs to accommodate the four new trades which has well-equipped laboratories, classrooms and library with sufficient fans and furniture. It also has hygienic wash rooms and toilets with incinerator. All labs are equipped with net connectivity and high capacity invertors.

Effective IMC

The IMC is much interested in equipping trainees with capabilities. Constructing three storied building at low cost with all modern amenities in 840 m2 area is an achievement of IMC. To assess the overall progress of training, the IMC meets periodically to improve the quality of training and placements. IMC offer inplant training and placements in their companies. A main gate and U.G. cable line were donated by IMC Chairman. In order to provide safe and hygienic drinking water, R.O. plant with the capacity of 500 litres per hour was installed with the help of IMC.

IMC contribution in the development of training

  • The IMC is very keen in the Overall Development of Training. The IMC chairman and the Industry Partners extend their support in providing Off-Campus Training, Industrial visits etc.,
  • IMC chairman and members of Steel Plant (SAIL) is interested in the development of the Institute and implementation of the PPP Scheme.

Details of IMC Meetings

  • Besides the need based sittings of IMC, the Regular meeting of IMC takes places once in three months.
  • The number of IMC meetings held so far is 36.
  • The IMC chairman and Industry member monitor the progress of training keenly and offer their valuable suggestions as and when required.
  • The Implementation of the PPP Scheme in this Institute is exceptionally well.
