Government Industrial Training Institute for Women Salem

Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) are government –run training institutes that offer training in various technical streams. ITI were established by Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Union Government of India. The sole aim behind the establishment of the ITI s is to provide technical manpower to the fast emerging industrial sector of the developed and the developing economy.

ITI provide technical knowledge in various trades ( both engineering and non-engineering) to candidates who have at least passed their 5th std examinations and who wish to acquire some technical knowledge instead of going for conventional higher studies.

Courses offered at the ITI are broadly divided into two namely, engineering and non- engineering trades. Some of the trades that belong to the engineering category are architectural assistant, electrician, electronic mechanic, instrument mechanic, electroplater, marine fitter etc.

Skill Development is very important for the younger people in India. Indian Economy 70% supported by Micro, Small and Medium Industries (MSME). MSME Skill development place a major roll both quality and productivity. Taking into the importance of the skill development, the Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu started 10 years ago, Skill development for the young students through ITI (Industrial Training Industries) and Government ITI Women (Salem) selected one among the 1500.

It is for the skill development through Public Private Participation Scheme and fully supported by funds and infrastructures available in the ITI. Government ITI Women (Salem) for the last 10 years providing various skills to Girl students in various categories to make them competent enough in the Society and empower them to build India through women force.

Principal Message

As Women are the real source for the overall development of the nation, we here in our ITI impart technical training to Women of various ages with varied Socio-Economical background under the guidelines of the DGET, New Delhi and the Government of Tamilnadu. Our mission is to make every women employed and self-reliant by providing quality technical education. We welcome all the Women aspirants to avail this opportunity.
